Children, obey your parents ... is the start of chapter 6 of Ephesians. I won't even bother to quote what happens when you don't. It's scary. (story continues after ads) Despite the perfect little boy that was in me, temptations were there and, horrors, were fallen to. Just about the time I was old enough to start school we lived in Sarnia, Ontario, near a major intersection. Rule number one was, "Thou shalt not go near yonder intersection". The problem was that one morning there was a curious sight just beyond that intersection. A group of men were standing around these small kid sized cars and the cars seemed to be moving with kids my size in them. I threw caution to the wind and walked down to the intersection. A kind man helped me get across and I got to drive a car around a simulated city, complete with stop lights. The neat thing about it was that I got home before Mom missed me and I quickly forgot all about my trespass. That night after supper Mom was reading the evening paper when she suddenly called me over. She questioned me about the forbidden corner! "How could she know?" I thought. Then she showed me a picture of this cute little guy riding in a kid sized car. As I looked closer I realized I was looking at a picture of myself! Of all the kids that rode that morning, I was the one they chose for the article. Please believe them when they say that crime doesn't pay. © 2000 by Richard W.
